10 reviews for Baffin Titan, Men’s Boots, Mid-Calf Height, Available in Black, Forest Green, All-Season, Hunting & Fishing

  1. Stalk Hunter

I purchased these boots for the purpose of hunting, specifically all day hunts that I will be sitting. Wearing the boots in 9° weather my feet were pleasantly warm. I have not had them out for an entire day yet, but I am impressed thus far. I have owned lacrosse, muck, bogs, columbia, GI mickey mouse, lacrosse and rocky boots and these are hands down the warmest. They blow the Muck Artic Pros out of the water for warmth. Being they are all rubber up to the snow cuff, I have no reason to believe they won’t be waterproof.

Now for what some may consider to be the “cons” of the boot. Having so much insulation in them they are a bigger boot. While being a bigger boot they don’t feel heavy on the foot. As I stated, I purchased these boots for days when I am going to be sitting for extended times, so their size doesn’t bother me. These are not the boot that I would wear if I was still hunting. I wear lacrosse boots for that. Even being a huge boot, I didn’t experience problems walking in them.

Now for the biggest question I had. I wear a size 12 in most of my boots. I ordered a size 14. I can wear the size 14 with normal socks and they are just a little loose. With hunting socks on they are a perfect fit.

Update: after a year of use, these boots developed a 1/4″ split on the front in the ankle area. The split didn’t effect how warm they were, but I am sure that they were no longer water proof. A call to Baffin to discuss what happened and problem solved. They asked for a few pictures of the damage, apologized for the inconvenience and asked for my address. I had a new pair of boots at my house five days later. Baffin customer service is above and beyond. Also, these boots are insanely warm. When I wear these out, I will definitely buy another pair.

If you haven’t walk on the moon you should try those boots. I’m pretty sure its the same. Very confortable and warm. Ordered the same size as I always order, not a size above. At the beginning it seems too tight but the felt inside molded my feet and now I’m walking on the moon.

My husband said there are the best winter boots he has owned. Great for ice fishing and working outside in the winter. He has extra wide feet and they fit great.

Thus far I haven’t frozen my feet, even in -35c temperatures, so that’s a plus. Traction is good, quality seems very good and the boots are lighter than I expected. With most footwear my feet fit a size 9-1/2, so I went with size 10. Big mistake, as these boots feel like a size 9. I thought that wearing them in would create more wiggle room, but after several weeks of regular wear that hasn’t happened. My advice is if you encounter the same issue, return them immediately and go one size larger. Or go to a brick and mortar store to find the right size.

I’ve only had these boots for a week but I’ve already had an opportunity to do some great testing on them. First off, I was worried about the -184 temperature rating. I wanted something that would work well for ice fishing or tree-stand hunting up in Minnesota on the cold days. The temperature rating of boots is a great estimate if you’re walking around, but sitting still with your feet either a) on a sheet of ice or b) up in a tree stand with cold air reaching all sides, that rating just won’t work. Boots rated to -20 have still given me numb frozen feet after a couple hours in a tree stand or ice fishing in 20-30 degree weather.

Last Saturday was trout ice opener up in MN and we got a few inches of snow the night before. The weight of which pushed down the ice so after digging out a spot in the snow for the portable fish house, you were sitting in about 4 inches of standing ice water when the outside temps were 10 degrees and 15 mph winds. After a couple of hours, I was the only person in our group that had warm/dry feet. I stayed out in those conditions for about 6 hours and my feet never got too cold or too hot.

As for the fit, I read a lot of the reviews here that said these boots fit very tight. With a boot that has this much insulation I decided to stick with my normal size and wait for the foam to compress after a few uses so it isn’t too loose in a month. I will say that the boots are definitely snug for their size (probably about a half size smaller than that listed) right out of the box but even with wearing them for 2 days ice fishing, I felt the foam starting to give and make some breathing room. I’ll give another update after I’ve had a chance to wear them more and let you know how much the insulation actually does compress.

These boots are the cat’s meow! Finally found a good ice fishing boot that is super warm and completely waterproof as it is a one piece mold (no seams, no glue) like many other so called waterproof boots you buy. Did I mention they are super warm? Don’t sweat before you go into the cold and your feet will not get cold. You do need a light to medium wool sock so the wicking can work, if you wear cotton with these, your feet will be sweaty and cold. These things wick moisture like crazy though with wool socks it is literally unbelievable. I come home and my feet and socks are completely dry but when you take the liner out its almost dripping wet (this is a good thing!) These boots are extremely durable too and you need that for kicking ice away from your hole. Great grip on slippery conditions too (obviously nothing is good on glare ice) but amazing in snow. You do need to order 2 sizes up from your regular shoe size because the liner is super thick, even 2 sizes up will feel tight at first but they break in quick and are perfect. The only downside is they are mega bulky especially in the heel and calf area it’s hard to get my snow skirts over them and it takes a while to get used to the size. Other than that, they are everything I dreamed of for my ice fishing boots!

I use them to make an outdoor rink ever winter. Kept my feet warm and dry no matter the temperature. Vary comfortable. Need extra large ice cleats to fit over the boot. Size 11 boot.

I got one size larger, and they still felt a little tight, but they seem to me loosening up a bit. I’ve worn them about 6 times. They are super slick on glare ice! Get some cleats. They are more comfortable to walk in (on snow) than I expected, and I’m picky about that. They are warm enough to stand on the ice, outside, for 6 hours at 25 degrees f. Overall, glad I got them.

Feet will always be warm and dry with these!

I was so sick of spending hundreds on “waterproof winter boots” that wouldn’t keep my feet warm or dry. So far these boots have been almost life-changing. After a large snowfall, I find myself judging the pedestrians that walk on of the road because they don’t have proper winter boots to handle walking on the snowy sidewalk! They definitely need a pair of these bad boys.
They are extremely warm, even on a winter night I find my foot and leg sweating wearing these! They are completely waterproof, I can stand in an icy river and not even notice any difference from standing on dry land. They are super easy on/off, which is honestly such a massive plus for me, I call them my rubber slippers!
The only con I can think of is the size. These boots are very large and very heavy. I’m a big guy so I don’t mind so much but my girlfriend got a pair too and she couldn’t deal with the cumbersome boots so she opted for the Baffin Storm. You will definitely notice a loss of dexterity when walking and especially driving.
They are priced competitively, they are extremely warm and durable, they will keep your feet dry no matter how wet the environment gets, they are massive and clunky.
    Easy rating of 5/5!
